Culture and spirituality infuse every aspect of this award-winning rooftop garden and streetscape design in North Vancouver, the heart of the region’s Persian community. Persian ironwood trees and roses line an axial rooftop patio, designed in a traditional hexagonal pattern from Islamic art and architecture. Stamped concrete “carpets” line the pedestrian-scale laneway and offer an added touch of unique sophistication to the points of movement and exchange surrounding the building. The project also features an expansive green roof overlooking the spectacular Burrard Inlet that complements the street-level bioswales that absorb stormwater on this steeply-sloping site.
